Be Ours This Valentine’s Day

So it’s Valentine’s Day and if you’re still searching for something to do, we have a few ideas for you. Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be about champagne and conversation hearts. You don’t even need a special someone—but these would be perfect activities to share. You can show some love by volunteering for your favorite nonprofit. Here are some ways to do good this Valentine’s Day.

Will you be my volunteer?
There are several ways to volunteer for a nonprofit. Many nonprofits have activities and events in association with Valentine’s Day. You can always volunteer for a local soup kitchen or stop by the grade school to help out at a class Valentine’s Day party. Just give the organization a call to get involved.

Dine in and give out.
Think about the money that you could potentially spend on Valentine’s Day by going out or exchanging gifts. If these aren’t in your plans this holiday, consider making a donation to your favorite nonprofit. It’s a great way to show your community some love.

Send some love.
If you don’t have time to volunteer, sit down and write a few thank you notes for organizations doing good in your community. Don’t forget to show some love to your service providers that make your life easier. Give a note to your janitor at work, the bus driver or the person making your morning latte.

It’s easy being green.
Rather than saying it with flowers, give some love to Mother Earth this Valentine’s Day. Resolve to recycle. Clean out your closets and give unwanted goods to charity, it’s better than throwing the items in a landfill.

Be kind.
It’s Random Acts of Kindness Week and you can take the Extreme Kindness Challenge of doing an act of kindness each day for seven days. Acts can be as simple as asking someone about their culture, or take a little more effort like helping to change a tire. Visit randomactsofkindness.org for more acts.
