Make Your Smiles Worthwhile

With warmer weather and summer daydreaming, it’s easy to fall into a slump this time of year. Maybe lately you’ve been feeling down, overworked or even under appreciated. We all have those days, but a few smiles and jokes could turn around your day in no time. Not only is April considered National Humor Month, but the first week of April is also Laugh at Work Week. So this month, instead of getting down about those April showers, shower your friends, family and employees with some extra humor. You’d be surprised at how far some extra smiles can go in making somebody’s day, and you never know the impact it will have on other people’s lives.

A Laughing Affair to Show You Care
To help get the laughs going, round up your friends or co-workers and host a comedy night. You don’t have to be a comedian to get some laughs from a room full of the people you know and love. Maybe you have a few talented and funny comedic friends, or maybe you’ll all stand up and simply make fools of yourselves. But either way, you’re guaranteed to get some laughs, and you’re all in it together. And if nobody is willing to take one for the team, you could always host an up-and-coming comedian at your gathering for little cost and just as many laughs. Turn the event into a fundraiser, so that you can give others something to smile about.

Joke’s on You
Never underestimate the power of a good-natured joke that you can play on the people in your lives. You’d be surprised at how much a simple smile can turn around somebody’s day. If you’re not much of a prankster, search online for some harmless jokes that will provoke a smile from even your toughest critics to crack. If all else fails, send them a funny email or an inside joke that reminds you of them. Not only will it brighten both of your days, but also it turns out that laughter is good for your health. Just by increasing the amount of laughs in your day, your body will release more endorphins, or those good hormones. Not to mention all of those other great benefits, like relaxed muscles, low blood pressure and laughter is even a stress reducer. By being the joke giver, you’re helping others out in more ways than one. You’ll feel great from sharing in the laughter, as well as knowing that you helped others in so many ways.

Volunteer to Spread More Cheer
If you’ve got plenty to smile about in your life, it’s time to help others feel the same way. There are plenty of ways that you can get involved both locally and beyond with helping others. Hospitals are always looking for volunteers to help spread some cheer to patients who may be in the most need. This would be a great opportunity to get your kids involved with volunteering, and starting them young will help improve the likelihood that they will get involved in the future. If you have a favorite nonprofit organization, volunteering your time is always a sure way to put a smile on other’s faces. Your time will be appreciated and you can smile knowing that you helped.
